Norfolk County summers are humid. An air conditioner that runs all afternoon and still leaves the upstairs warm may need a repair, a refrigerant check, or a larger conversation about ducts and sizing. Those are different jobs. The quote should say which one you are buying.
Ask whether the visit includes a diagnosis only, or diagnosis plus the repair. Ask for the part name, the labour, and whether the system will be leak-checked if refrigerant is added. Adding refrigerant to a leaking coil is not a repair. If the recommendation is a new air conditioner, ask how it matches the furnace you already have, and who services the brand the following summer.
Get the callback terms in the same note as the price. A humid week is a bad time to discover that the quoted visit did not include a return trip. Insurance should be current, and the model number on the quote should match the equipment being repaired or installed.
